Angkor, the world's greatest concentration of religious mounments, is a celebration in stone of the divinites, myths and teachings of two great faiths, Hinduism and Buddhism. In sanctuaries, niches, on gallery walls, over doorways and even in the sacred alignment of temple buildings, all is iconic, whether the stone linga representing Shiva's essence, the two thousand apsaras dancing on the walls of Angkor Wat, or the enigmatic giant stone faces of the Bayon.
