As an academic, I am used to devouring manuscripts. I review, critique and of course contribute myself to the ever-increasing body of knowledge in the field of how to handle the human as resource in the workplace. I therefore am keenly attuned to the quality of writing and the contribution that is being made, both qua content, qua style and qua applicability and relevance. it saddens me to say that in this field, as in many others, mediocrity rules. Yet sometimes, one is surprised, delighted and enchanted by a piece of written work that is concise, elegant, no-nonsense and erudite-this book is an example of such, and in my opinion has all the hallmarks of becoming and instant classic.
