Backpack focuses on getting young learners to enjoy communicating in English and takes a highly integrated approach to developing grammar, vocabulary and all four language skills. Throughout Backpack there is a lively mix of illustrations, photography, chants, songs, games, TPR and project work. Teachers will find it clear and logical to teach with, and learners will love its exciting and dynamic activities.
Exciting themes and content draw learners in and involve them straightaway. Clear lesson plans, which are effective and easy to teach, follow a logical progression. The four skills are taught through a wide variety of projects, games, role plays, songs and puzzles. Pull out Little Books (Starter to Level 3) and theme-based magazine pages. (Levels 4-6) provide motivation for enjoyable reading. The Video provides exposure to natural language in real contexts, develops themes and vocabulary, see page 80. The CD-ROM includes a wide variety of exciting, interactive activities such as vocabulary and listening exercises to practise and revise language. Activities can be marked, saved and printed.
