Of all the degrees given at the mater's level, probably none are more popular today than graduate business degrees, the most popular of these being the MBA. Since 1950, the MBA alone has been awarded to about I million graduates. The popularity of these degrees in recent years is indicated by the burgeoning enrollments at graduate schools of business and the sharp increase in the number of institutions that offer them. Today, such degree programs are offered 750 colleges and universities. Since 1970, the number of mater's degrees awarded each year in business administration has soared from 21,000 to around 100,000. Currently, about 275,000 students are enrolled in MBA programs. Of these students, about two-thirds are men and one-third are women. More that 60 percent of all MBA students go to school part time.
