Fans of summertime soaps may enjoy this tale of one lesbian couple introducing another to the joys of that summertime gay mecca on Cape Cod: Provincetown. Trials before treats, however: first, the terrible Boston-to-the-Cape traffic, made worse by Sabi's pea-sized bladder. Then there are the accommodations at Stella the parsimonious innkeeper's--at least the rooms are lousy with character, like Stella herself. Next, the mosquitoes, seemingly of the size and with the bite of lions and tigers and bears: ow my! The intrepid vacationers, awed by the magnificent coastline views, carry on, though, with cocktails coaxing less-than-enthusiastic dancers onto the floor with their honeys. The action shifts into high gear when lovely strangers exchange lustful glances. But you knew that, didn't you? Still, as with so many books, the joy is in the journey, so don't deny readers the guilty pleasure of this light but perfect evocation of P-Town, its crowded Commercial Street, and its lovely sunsets.
