The second edition reflects the above-noted trends with a number of revisions and additions. Specific changes include the following. Chapter 1 has been reordered and revised. Material on logic functions and logic design has been moved to Appendix A. Most student now cover this material in other courses. The material on fabrication technology has been expanded somewhat, and a section on layout fundamentals has been added. Chapter 3 has been expanded by addition of material on the new CMOS logic families. Chapters 4 through 8 have undergone minor changes. Chapters 9 and 10 have been expanded to include new material on memory sense amplifiers and output buffers for VLSI circuits. Additional problems are included with most of these chapters.
